Past, future converge in Main Street Makeover

Preparations for the $7.6-million rebuilding of Main Street through downtown Rochester have been underway for the last couple of years. Now, with a bid about to be awarded, workers are set to start digging in April. Main Street between Second and University will be totally closed for an estimated 90 days. Fire & Ice tries again

Though the weather is expected to be above freezing, the Fire & Ice festival will try again this weekend to bring outdoor winter fun to downtown Rochester. The festival was rescheduled from its original January dates due to the unusually warm and snow-free winter. It will happen this weekend, Friday, February 24, from 6- 9 p.m. and Saturday, February 25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free. Patterson statement on Ingham County Circuit Court ruling on Public Act 280 of 2011

Oakland County Executive L. Learn about Detroit during World War II from Karen AJ Miller, History Professor at Oakland University on Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at the Rochester Hills Public Library.
