Back by popular demand—Junk in the Trunk

Due to the overwhelming success of this summer’s Junk in the Trunk, a fall date has been selected. Junk in the Trunk registration is now open for Saturday, September 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Farmers’ Market Upper Lot in downtown Rochester. junkinthetrunk_2013

“The summer Junk in the Trunk was a huge success,” said Stephanie Hellebuyck, Rochester Downtown Development Authority Events Coordinator. “Since the event in June, we’ve had an overwhelming number of participants and attendees ask if we could host another event in the fall, so we are!”

Rochester businesses, area residents, and handmade crafters are welcome to sell at Junk in the Trunk. Parking spaces will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis, with a two-space maximum. The price for one space is $35, and two spaces is $50. Registration forms can be found online at www.downtownrochestermi.com/events/junk-in-the-trunk. Payment must accompany your registration form. The deadline to register is Friday, August 30.

All registrants will be responsible for additional needs such as tables, chairs, petty cash, etc. When choosing items for resale it’s important to think antique and vintage, not old and used. Popular items for resale are furniture, antiques, collectibles, dishes and glassware and accessories. Junk in the Trunk is presented by Renewal By Anderson and the Rochester DDA.

The event will also feature a kids’ art activity and kids-to-kids sale from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Children will have the opportunity to sell or trade items such as toys, games and electronics with their peers. There will be a special section at Junk in the Trunk designated for the Kids 2 Kids Sale. Parents, please call 248.656.0060 to sign up. Registration is free but space is limited. Each child is limited to sell five items or less.

Other upcoming DDA events include Movies in the Moonlight, Saturdays, July 20, 27, and August 3, Big, Bright Ball on Sunday, August 4 and Rochester’s Great American Bake Sale on Saturday, August 17. For more information about these events or any other DDA events please call 248.656.0060.
