OPC December Women’s Luncheon

Betty Jones and Diana Schreiber will entertain OPC guests on December 22 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. with their incredible talent. Sit back, relax and enjoy your favorite songs of the season with good friends. Lunch will be fabulous and served to us by the gracious Men Waiters of the OPC. Cost is $12. OPC Men’s Breakfast

OPC welcomes a representative from the New Day Foundation for Families at the Men’ Breakfast on January 17, 2017. They will share with us the mission of this organization to support local families coping with a loved one with a cancer diagnoses. You must buy your ticket by 11:00 a.m. of the day before the breakfast. Cost is $5 for a Full Breakfast.

Rewired Not Retired: Turning Your Hobby into a Business

Rewired Not Retired hosts its next workshop on January 18 from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. This workshop is designed for individuals who are at the beginning stages of starting a business. It will help aspiring entrepreneurs assess their abilities, tips on evaluating market and sales potential for their product/services, and financial options. Presenter: Greg Doyle, One Stop Shop Business Center-Advantage Oakland Cost: $5

OPC Sees Donations for Used Jewelry Sale

OPC Enrichment and Art Department is planning another Used Jewelry Sale in May 2017, and we’re collecting NOW. Have Fun with OPC at Motor City Casino

Try you luck at the Motor City Casino. We travel on March 15 by motor coach to enjoy 5 hours of gaming. This trip includes $15 in reward play. Motor coach. Trip to See Glenn Miller Orchestra

Sunday, April 2, 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Macomb Center for the Performing Arts presents the Glenn Miller Orchestra, along with the vocal group, The Modernaires. Hear one of the most sought-after big bands in the world performing such classics as “Pennsylvania 6-5000,” “Chattanooga Choo-Choo,” “Tuxedo Junction,” and “Moonlight Serenade.” There is no meal beforehand, but snacks will be served before trip departs OPC. Motor Coach Cost: $75 OMW: $11 Refund deadline: Friday, February 24, 2017. Day Trip to Purple Rose Theatre

Wednesday, April 12, 11:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

The Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea, MI, presents “Vino Veritas,” a dark comedy set on Halloween night, in which the bonds of friendship of two suburban couples are stretched when they share a Peruvian wine brewed from the skins of blue dart tree frogs. Travel to Chicago & Frank Lloyd Wright

Travel with us from May 16-18, 2017 to captivating Chicago. Our 2-night stay is at the Congress Plaza Hotel right on Michigan Ave with close proximity to shopping, restaurants, the theatre district and the world famous museums. We’ll explore two of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural gems; the Rookery Light Court, designed in 1905 and the Robie house, called one of the great masterpieces of the 20th century. Both tours will be led by expert docents. Wednesday night we’ll attend Chicago’s longest running audience-interactive dinner show-Tommy Gun’s Garage with their roaring 20’s musical comedy and excellent Italian dinner. Entree selections are a choice of prime rib, lasagna (meat or vegetarian) or boneless chicken breast with lemon herb or mushroom sauce. Please mention entrée choice at sign up. Explore the State Capitol & Michigan Historical Museum

Politics and history in our own backyard. We travel on April 8 leaving at 8:30 a.m. and returning at 5:00 p.m. to Lansing for a guided tour of our State Capitol featuring the Rotund and Gallery of the Governors. Tours also include visits to the House and Senate Galleries, Governor’s Office and Supreme Court Chamber. (We are currently the only tour scheduled that day-no school kids.) Next up is an included lunch at The State Room followed by a visit to the flagship of the Michigan History Museum System-The Michigan History Museum. Motor coach.
