History comes alive at Mt. Avon

Costumed actors representing residents from Rochester’s past will come to life at Mt. Avon Cemetery on Saturday, September 29 from 1 – 5 p.m.

The Rochester – Avon Historical Society will conduct a family-friendly event combining community theater and local history. Guides will lead groups through the cemetery, where visitors will hear stories of the lives of people told in first person by the actors.

Timed tours will depart from the municipal parking lot at Third and Walnut streets, (not from the cemetery). Ticket holders will be transported to and from the cemetery via shuttle van. Attendees should park in the municipal parking lot and meet their shuttle vans at the tour time designated on their tickets.

Tickets are $15 per person and are nonrefundable. Tours will be held rain or shine and the event will only be cancelled because of severe weather.

Advance purchase is recommended. Advance tickets may be purchased at the Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce office, 71 Walnut Street, Suite 110. Tickets not sold in advance will be available for walk-up sales on the day of the event at the shuttle stop.

The Mount Avon Cemetery Walk is sponsored by Rochester Hills Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Pixley Funeral Home and Potere-Modetz Funeral Home.
