Mark Albrecht Launches Candidacy for Rochester City Council

Mark J. Albrecht formally launched his candidacy for Rochester City Council at his “Campaign Kick-off and Fundraiser” at The Meeting House in Rochester, MI on Thursday, June 6. On hand to introduce and support Albrecht were former Rochester Mayor Cathy Daldin, Rochester City Council member Stuart Bikson, Paul Haig, and his daughter Tiffany Szadyr.

Mark Albrecht Launches Candidacy for Rochester City Council

Albrecht is a 15 year resident of Rochester where he raised his two daughters. He is currently employed as Senior Director of Human Resources with Orlans in Troy, MI. Albrecht brings 30 years of Human resources’ leadership experience with leading global, national and local companies including RGIS, Handleman Company, Lord & Taylor and Ann Taylor.

Albrecht has been giving back for the past 20 years, actively involved with charities and community organizations, including his leadership role as Chair of the Rochester Downtown Development Authority (DDA) for the past 4 years and serving as Vice Chair for the previous 4 years. Albrecht holds leadership roles with the Walsh College Foundation Board and the Detroit Historical Society Board of Trustees. He is also actively involved with Rochester’s Infrastructure and Community Development committees, and the Stony Creek Ridge North Homeowner’s Association.

In explaining his motivation for running for office Albrecht stated, “I have a passion for Rochester and would like to contribute my experience, knowledge and skills on city council. I have actively engaged the community in my role as DDA Chair and have listened to what the key issues our city faces. I am committed towards strengthening our infrastructure, planful and reasonable economic development to preserve the historic nature of our community and being fiscally responsible and transparent with our taxpayers, especially as it relates to our water rates.”

Albrecht went on to say, “We will be losing three key experienced council members this year with Mayor Ray, Mayor Pro-tem Kim Russell and Council member Ben Giovanelli. I have worked hand-in hand with City Council and administration over the last eight years, and I know how the city and council operates and I’m confident that I can contribute beginning day one.”

Albrecht received his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Human Resources & Psychology from Michigan State University and his Masters of Science Degree in Strategic Leadership from Walsh College. Albrecht gave the Student Commencement address at Walsh College in 2011 and was recently recognized with the “Distinguished Volunteer Award” by the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2018.
