Rochester Community House Community Kitchen Serves Extra Cheer for Easter

The Rochester Community House’s monthly Community Kitchen Dinner had extra special treats this month. Serving those in need, the April 17 dinner was sponsored by Gofrank & Mattina P.C., and those who attended were able to enjoy entertainment by actress and singer Jennifer Kincer’s voice students.

The centerpieces were made by the children of Hugger Elementary School. The Easter spirit made the dinner even more festive as attendees received colored Easter eggs in their baskets.

Rochester Community House will keep the momentum going for May’s dinner with the Rochester Junior Woman’s Club being its sponsor. With the help of local churches and nonprofits, Sunday dinner is provided to many low-income families and seniors on the third Sunday of each month. To date, the Community Kitchen has served more than 2,000 diners. The kitchen also distributes more 25 bags of groceries each week to those in need through its kitchen pantry.

At the Community Kitchen, home cooked meals are served to diners with linen tablecloths and floral centerpieces in a banquet room at Rochester Community House. It is an enjoyable community gathering for both diners and volunteers.

To assist with the Community House efforts to support the community, the Community Kitchen is in need of nonperishable canned food items including canned meats, pastas, peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, and pancake mixes. It also accepts personal hygiene items and paper products such as soaps, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and toilet tissue.

Those who would like to make a reservation or cannot leave their home should call Rochester Community House at 248-651-0622. For more information, visit www.rochestercommhouse.org  or become a fan on Facebook.
