Rochester PTA Council Hosts Founder’s Day and Raffle Preview

On March 1, 2012, PTA Council will host its annual Founder’s Day Celebration which honors three extraordinary volunteers from each school in the Rochester Community Schools district. Five additional honorees will receive special awards for their accomplishments that have made a difference at the district level.

The evening will include musical entertainment by district students. Slated to perform are the Meadow Brook Elementary Drum Corps, Reuther Middle School will sing the National Anthem, and Stoney Creek High School will perform musical ensembles. Festivities also include award presentations, a basket raffle and our keynote speaker the new superintendant, Fred Clarke. Proceeds from ticket sales and the raffle go directly toward the PTA Council Scholarship Fund which benefits graduating seniors every year with four $1,000 scholarships.

All of the 20 schools’ PTA units provide donations for the raffle. Past prizes have included spa packages, sports ticket packages, play/musical/ice show tickets, limo packages, jewelry, and other high-end gifts.

Founder’s Day will be held March 1, 2012 at Rochester High School in the “Mall Area.”

Admission is a $5.00 donation to the PTA Council Scholarship Fund and all community members are welcome. Raffle tickets will be on sale for $2 each or 12 for $20. “Buy It Now” items will also be available to purchase and take home at great values! Doors open at 6:00 for the raffle and refreshments, and the awards ceremony begins at 7:00.

Raffle Preview Event

Rochester PTA Council will host a Raffle Preview with refreshments on Valentine’s Day, February 29, 1:00 to 5:00 pm in the Harrison Room of the RCS Administration Building located at 501 W. University.  All community members are invited to attend.

Opportunity to Donate

Local businesses and community members are encouraged to support the Founder’s Day celebration and PTA Scholarship Fund by donating an item to the raffle or by donating directly to the PTA Council Scholarship Fund. Businesses and individuals who donate by the deadline will be listed in the event program. All donations are tax deductible. PTA leaders report that Founder’s Day attracts people from all over the RCS service area, and it is an excellent way for a business to increase market exposure.  Businesses and individuals interested in donating should contact Michelle Bueltel at 248-373-5406 or jmkjbueltel@wideopenwest.com.
