Tienken Road reconstruction meeting is Feb. 29

Public Information Meeting Set For Feb. 29 for 2013/2014 Reconstruction of Tienken Road, Livernois to Sheldon in Rochester Hills

The Road Commission for Oakland County, in conjunction with the City of Rochester Hills, will conduct a public information meeting Wednesday, Feb. 29, about the planned 2013/2014 reconstruction of Tienken Road from west of Livernois Road to west of Sheldon Road.

The meeting will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the media center at Stoney Creek High School , 575 E. Tienken Road (at Sheldon Road ) in Rochester Hills. Those attending are asked to enter the school through the north side doors, which are closest to the media center.

The meeting will be open house format – there will not be a formal presentation. Anyone interested can attend at any time between 4 and 7 p.m. to talk with a Road Commission representative and/or review the project plans.

The project is expected to start in 2013 and be completed in 2014. It will involve the reconstruction of this section of Tienken primarily as a three-lane road with a continuous center left-turn lane. There will be right-turn lanes at side streets and major driveways.

A roundabout will be constructed at the Tienken/Livernois intersection. Tienken Road will be reconstructed with asphalt and will include concrete curbs and gutters. Livernois will also be reconstructed from 700 feet south of Tienken to 900 feet north of Tienken.

The project will also include drainage improvements, the construction of pedestrian pathways on both sides of the road and intersection lighting at the roundabout.

During the project, sections of Tienken will be closed to through traffic, though access to all homes and businesses throughout the project will be maintained at all times. Details about planned closures will be available at the meeting and will be publicized prior to the start of the project.
