2016 Meals On Wheels

2016 Meals On Wheels

All proceeds will benefit Meals on Wheels, which provides daily meals for homebound senior seven days a week. The OPC 5K Run or Walk for Meals supports the Meals on Wheels program for the Northern Oakland County. The need to support the Meals on Wheels program in our community is great because of the necessity in providing a meal to a homebound senior. In 2015, OPC’s Nutrition Department prepared over 92,000 home delivered meals to homebound seniors in nine different communities as part of the Meals on Wheels program.

The Older Persons’ Commission is a non-profit state-of-the-art senior community center for people 50 years and older located in Rochester, MI. Before the commission’s creation in 1983, the organization provided basic transportation services and a place for older individuals to gather but now the OPC offers nutrition programs, senior resources, health and wellness programs, leisure travel, performing arts and intergenerational programs. The Health and Wellness Department amenities include a cardio and weight room, lap and therapy pool, fitness classes, walking track, personal training, Crittenton Wellness Center and full size gym.
