History & Legends…Greece, Turkey & the Islands

Rochester Hills Public Library, 500 Olde Towne, Rochester
Al Eicher traveled to over 50 locations in these countries visiting sites of the early civilizations. He also traveled to the islands of Mykonos, Crete, Patmos, Petra and Santorini. This lecture and visual presentation captures spectacular views of the ancient ruins, snow capped mountains and stories of Greek mythology. The presentation includes the sights and sounds of cruising to the islands and climbing to the Acropolis sites of many old cities. Experience the visual history and legends of Greece and Turkey. Sunday Concert: Ivybrooke Trio

The Ivybrooke Trio features three well-known musicians from the area. Zeljko Milicevic, violin, is a music educator in the Farmington Public Schools, a member of Macomb, Flint, and Bijou orchestras, and is the conductor of the St. Clare Shores and Oakland Youth Orchestra. Susan Clark Joul is the principal cellist with the Rochester Symphony and frequently performs with many area orchestras. She enjoys working in this area as a cellist, pianist and vocal soloist. Angelina Pashmakova, piano, is well-known as an accompanist, vocal coach, and solo pianist. The concert offers a Classical work by Haydn and a romantic work by Mendelssohn.

Selfridge Field authors Deborah Larsen and Lt. Col. Louis J. Nigro present a multi-media review of the long history of the military airfield now known as Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Once a training ground for aviation greats such as Jimmy Doolittle, Charles Lindbergh and Curtis LeMay, Selfridge Field has been the site of some of military aviation’s greatest advancements. • How do I activate my account with Recycle Bank?
• How do I redeem my points to earn money saving coupons from local and national businesses?
• If I don’t have a computer, can I still get points and coupons?
• Can I donate to my favorite charities through Recycle Bank?

The Hudson Motor Car Company: Detroit’s Last Independent Automaker

Dr. Charles Hyde will discuss his book, The Hudson Motor Car Company: Detroit’s last independent Automaker. The presentation will examine the lifespan of the Hudson Motor Car Company, from its foundation in 1909 to its merger with Nash Motors in 1954 to form the American Motors Corporation. It will include a close look at Hudson’s leaders and its vehicles over time and will offer an explanation for Hudson’s early success and its later failure. After the presentation, books will be available for purchase. Registration required.
Friends of the Library Holiday Home Tour

Children’s Movie Benefit

Fourteenth annual Tree of Lights with Angels sponsored by the Crittenton Auxiliary. Stop by the hospital gift shop and purchase an angel to be placed on our trees in memory of or in recognition of your loved ones.
