Carroll will focus on new innovative technologies for anthropological and archaeological surveying, mapping and analysis, and how this technology is implemented across the globe on four continents.

“Technology is rapidly changing the ways we can discover and preserve ancient historical sites. Even more, certain technologies allow us to build models and simulations that gives us an even clearer picture of what life looked like hundreds of years ago,” said Dr. Carroll.

Dr. Carroll is also a Registered Professional Archaeologist who specializes in the archeology of the Eastern Woodlands of North America, and FAA licensed drone pilot. His primary focus is in cultural transmission, social interactions and integration, as well as political and economic organization.

“At the Rochester Hills Public Library we value the transformative power of technology and we’re very excited for Dr. Carroll to share how he uses innovative and new tech to connect us with the past,” said Community Relations Specialist Amanda Harrison Keighley.
