Oakland County Board of Commissioners to honor L. Brooks Patterson and Roy Rewold

On Wednesday, November 13, 2013, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners will honor Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson with a special recognition. He will be honored for 20 years of successful financial management of the county budget and his partnership with the County Commissioners.

Patterson has the distinction of presenting balanced budgets that have been passed for 20 years consecutively, by the Board of Commissioners, which is a milestone. The Board will also recognize his national honor of being named Public Official of Year by non-partisan Governing Magazine. Patterson was one of nine honorees selected.

The magazine selected leaders from state, city and county government who exemplify the ideals of public service. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m., in the Oakland County Board of Commissioners’ Auditorium, located at 1200 North Telegraph Road, in Pontiac, Michigan. Board leaders will present the proclamation to him. Board Chairman Michael Gingell, Caucus Chairs Shelley G. Taub and Marcia Gershenson.

Also on November 13, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners will honor posthumously the late Oakland County Board of Commissioners’ Chairman Roy Rewold and present a commemorative honor to his family. Chairman Gingell, Vice Chairman Matis and Commissioner Taub will present on behalf of members of the Board

Oakland County’s Sheriff’s Corrections Administrator Ann Russell will also be honored that evening will for her years of service in honor of her retirement. Commissioners Shelley Taub and Helaine Zack will present to her.

A special recognition will be given to Oakland County’s Youth Assistance in celebration of the organizations 60th Anniversary by Commissioners Shelley Goodman Taub and Gary McGillivray.
