Rochester Garden Club Awards Annual College Scholarship

They are pleased to announce the recipient of their annual college scholarship, Therese Costantini, a graduating senior from Rochester Adams High School.

Therese has grown up with a love of nature thanks in large part to the gardening interests of her mother. One of Therese’s fond childhood memories is being in her mother’s garden, and petting bumblebees with the back of her fingernail.

Therese is fervent about protecting the environment. She is seeking a career path dedicated to increasing awareness of environmental issues and protecting the Earth. She hopes to earn a degree in environmental engineering and work in the alternative energy field. Constantini attributes much of her passion for science and the environment to her AP Biology teacher, Mr. Wieten. He taught her how science can be used in the real world; and he has advised her about the types of jobs in which she could apply scientific skills.

The goal of the Rochester Garden Club is to support Therese, and the recipients from the prior three years throughout their undergraduate career, with an annual award of $1500 each. Funds for these scholarships and other community services performed by the Rochester Garden Club are raised at the Annual Greens Market, a holiday destination for hundreds of area shoppers seeking a variety of affordable handmade gifts and holiday arrangements. Rochester Community Schools graciously provides the Harrison Room at the school administration building as the venue for our Greens Market. Visit www.RochesterGardenClub.org for details.
