Mental and Emotional Health issues are a growing and underserved problem, both across the country and right here in the Rochester Area. Depression and anxiety are epidemic among out youth and teen suicide is on the rise. To help fight back, the Rochester Rotary Club decided to support Mental and Emotional Health initiatives and organizations including those supported by the Rochester Community Schools Foundation.

Rotary International, the parent organization to which the Rochester Rotary Club belongs, has six areas of focus for its philanthropic activities: Promoting Peace, Fighting Disease, Providing Clean Water, Saving Mothers and Children, Supporting Education, and Growing Local Economies.

“By supporting Mental and Emotional Health programs here in Rochester,” said Club President, Wayne Hodges, “we’re helping to accomplish two of those: Fighting Disease and Saving Children. And with Rochester Community Schools as one of our strategic partners, we’re proud to work alongside the Rochester Community Schools Foundation to improve the overall health of our youth.”

The Golf Outing takes place on Monday, August 26 at Twin Lakes Golf Club in Oakland, MI. The event costs just $145 per golfer, which includes 18 holes, lunch, and dinner. Hole Sponsorships are also available for $250 and include recognition throughout the day. If you’re interested in playing, there’s still a week left to register and all proceeds go toward these important community initiatives. You can register on the club website or by contacting the event chair, Rhonda Panczyk at rpanczyk@gmail.com.

“It’s going to be a great afternoon,” said Ms. Panczyk. “A beautiful course, great company, and most of all, a big step in the right direction toward helping our neighbors lead better lives.
