Stoney Creek Golf Falls Short of Title Goal

YPSILANTI — Saturday was bittersweet for Devon Compton. The senior golfer from Rochester Stoney Creek ended her high school career with an individual state championship, but her team came up an agonizingly three strokes shy of a state title. Snapped: Farmington halts Adams’ league streak at 21

ROCHESTER HILLS — Two years ago, Farmington walked out of the football stadium at Rochester Adams with a 63-0 defeat. The Falcons finally turned the tables on the Highlanders Friday night. Farmington built a 21-10 lead at the half, then held on for a 21-16 OAA White Division triumph over defending league champion Adams. High School Fall Football Preview

Over the past three decades, five different local schools have reached at least the state semifinals in football. The last school from our coverage area to win a state title was Rochester Adams in 2003. The Highlanders defeated Birmingham Brother Rice 28-7 for the Division 2 state crown that year. Before that, it was Troy taking the Class AA title in 1994 with a 17-0 victory over Bay City Central. Tornado Warnings and Power Outages in Rochester
