The Sidewalk Chalk Art Competition for Art & Apples Festival

Paint Creek Center for the Arts is excited to announce applications are now being accepted for the Festival’s The Sidewalk Chalk Art Competition – where students will transform the walkway of the park into an open-air gallery featuring original works of chalk art.

The competition is open to students of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties who are in Kindergarten to 12 grade. Applicants must be available to translate their designs on a designated 8’x8’ of allotted sidewalk space square with supplied chalk between 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9 and attend an award ceremony in the morning of September 10. The work will be on display for the entire weekend of the festival for patrons to view.

All interested participants must complete the application form below by Friday, September 2, 2016.

Please note that applicants must be ready to begin designs on Friday, September 9 at 4:00 p.m. and it must be completed in a maximum of three hours.

Sidewalk chalk art designs will be judged by age group (grades K-3; 4-5; 6-8; and 9-12) and the grand prize winners in each age category will be awarded a gift certificate (valued up to $170) towards one art class of their choosing at Paint Creek Center for the Arts, 407 Pine Street, Rochester, Michigan.
