Make a Blanket Day 2019

Hundreds of volunteers will converge at Stoney Creek High School in Rochester Saturday, September 21, to make 2,500 blankets for children in hospitals all across Michigan as part of Fleece & Thank You’s Make A Blanket Day 2019. The event takes place on the practice football field from 12 noon until 4:00 p.m.

Fleece & Thank You supplies the materials (blankets, scissors, etc.), and volunteers supply the super-human work force to make this all possible. The purpose is to help bring a sense of comfort and hope to children facing illness and their families supporting them.

Fleece & Thank You believes in creating a better world for children suffering in the hospital. The Farmington Hills-based nonprofit works with local groups to make blankets and video messages, and then they deliver the blankets to hospitals. Their goal is a simple one: every child in every hospital bed receiving much needed hope in the form of a colorful, fleece blanket and a friendly face at the start of the treatment. It aims to serve Michigan and Northwestern Ohio with more than 30,000 blankets every year, one for every child entering the hospital for treatments.

Every $24 raised means another blanket that will be made at the event. Individuals interested in creating a team or donating to fund blankets can do so by visiting https://ftyblanketday19.funraise.org.
